Values education; academic rigor; a close and supportive community; a full range of specials, field trips, and enrichment; immersion in a second language; and connection to a religious and cultural legacy thousands of years old yet still relevant today. These are only some of the reasons our families choose Shalom School and the education they so value for their children. Investment in a Jewish Day School education is one that pays dividends for years to come. Students develop strong identities, critical thinking skills, and the ability and commitment to make a difference in the world. Preparing students to live adult lives rich in meaning, connection, and intellectual curiosity, a Shalom School education is the foundation for a lifetime of learning.
Israel Statement
Shalom School supports the state of Israel, and its right to exist, and we will celebrate and create positive connections to Israel as an integral aspect of Jewish peoplehood. Our faculty and staff, students and families, and other members of our community should be aware that this approach is part of our curriculum. We aim to provide nuance in this effort, and create a culture where difficult conversations recognize the complexity of Israel and support different viewpoints, and where growth and learning can occur, but where hate speech and harmful words are not allowed.
Our goal is for students and their families, faculty, and staff to explore their own answer to the question: "Why is Israel important to you?”
This approach includes setting age-appropriate expectations around thoughtfully navigating complex topics and teaching developmentally appropriate lessons about Israel in which discussions and activities are guided by each age group’s needs and curiosities.
