Multiage Model

With a commitment to truly differentiated education and strengthening the social, emotional, and educational development of each child, Shalom School operates four sections in its elementary school:

  • Kindergarten
  • 1st/2nd classroom
  • 3rd/4th classroom
  • 5th/6th classroom

Our multiage model, where students of different ages and grade levels learn together, offers several benefits, particularly in K–6 settings:

Enhanced Social-Emotional Learning (SEL):

  • Diverse peer interactions promote empathy and collaboration.
  • A supportive, inclusive environment boosts self-esteem and reduces competition.

Personalized Learning:

  • Students progress at their own pace, benefiting all learners.
  • Lessons can be differentiated to meet diverse needs.

Leadership Skills:

  • Students develop leadership, teaching, and problem-solving skills by working with mixed-age peers.

Stronger Teacher-Student Relationships:

  • Long-term relationships with teachers improve understanding of students’ strengths and needs.

Community Building:

  • Multiage classrooms foster a sense of belonging, strengthen the school community, and reduce behavioral issues.

Collaborative Problem-Solving:

  • Students work together to solve problems, preparing for teamwork in real life.
